First Days as New Faculty

I am in the middle of my first week as faculty. Many things are the same: I get to work with cool material, I am looking at the screen a lot, and I'm swimming in a million ideas. What's different? I'm getting paid to teach, to help guide others as they learn. I still have problems grokking that I'm actually getting paid to do this. It's so awesome that it defies belief. No, that's not hyperbole.

Already I've discovered a grant for which I'm applying. Huzzah! I'm happy about that.

Weird part in all this is that I'm teaching part-time online while moving our home up to Monmouth. Shifting gears between packing books and getting to know a program's ethos.

So, I'm a bit scattered, but it is in a good way. I am so excited that I'm about to explode. The biggest difference between me and dr. gbz is that dr. gbz actually pauses when he gets an idea. That's right, I've developed a modicum of focus and patience.
